Invitation to EPE-PEMC' 2010 in Ohrid
On behalf of the EPE-PEMC Council and National Organizing Committee, supported by EPE Association, we sincerely invite you to EPE-PEMC Conference 2010 (6-8 September) in Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia. It is the 14th of conference series in Europe started in 1970 in the field of Power Electronics and Motion Control. Following the previous successful conferences, this time EPE-PEMC 2010 will move to South-East of Europe to narrow the gap not only between the West and the East, but also between the North and the South, and to accelerate the global integration process.
As you know, the main goal of both organizations (EPE-PEMC Council and EPE Association) is to promote and coordinate the exchange and the publication of technical, scientific and economic information in the field of Power Electronics and Motion Control. One of the main objectives of cooperation is the integration and unification of Europe in the field of our profession. Therefore in addition to keynotes, oral and dialog presentations according to topics, the conference will be joined by tutorials, special sessions, round tables, exhibitions and technical visits.
Power Electronics and Motion Control are becoming more and more important as the basis for many industrial processes, individual and mass transportation, but also for rational use of the energy as well as environmental requirements directed by climate changes. Due to the new rules published by the EC on the electric energy production, transport, distribution and interconnection, the role of Power Electronics is growing. A characteristic trend for the last EPE-PEMC Conferences has been the increasingly large industrial participation, enhancing exchanges between academia and industry.
We are sure that the atmosphere of Ohrid, the kingdom of light and water, will provide a stimulating environment for good work and companionship of scientists, engineers from industry, academia and students. By attending the conference, and hopefully adding some extra days with a great variety of possibilities for sightseeing and recreation in and outside Ohrid, you will be able to exchange scientific ideas, obtain information about new developments, extend your business activities and confirm international friendship in charming and pleasant atmosphere. Ohrid is a city of UNESCO, one of 25 world's (7 Europe's) mixed natural (since 1979, the oldest in the world) and cultural (since 1980, the oldest in Europe, the second in the world) heritage sites. There are thousands of marks and testimonies of the birth of the Slavic culture. It is Ohrid where St. Clement, a student of Thessaloniki brothers Ss Cyril and Methodius, had founded the first Slavic University (886-916). Today St. Clement is worshiped as a patron of the city. Main landmark is the typical architecture of the old town. Ohrid is known as the town with more churches than days in the year. It is about 700 m above the sea level. Ohrid is famous with its summer festival, swimming marathon and the international seminar on Macedonian language, literature and culture. The St. Paul Airport is 10 km from the city centre. Very close, east of Ohrid is the National park of Galicica, described in the two books "Hidden Macedonia" by Ch. Deliso as one of the most scenic drives in Europe. Today Ohrid is a town with 56,000 inhabitants and the most developed electric industry in R. Macedonia. "Metropol Lake Resort" will satisfy your high demands not only for conference conditions, but also for relaxation, recreation and sports (swimming, tennis, table tennis, rowing, basketball, beach volleyball etc.).
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Ohrid!
